Anti-seismic warehouses are only 5%
A racking system built according to anti-seismic criteria should be a fundamental feature in the creation of warehouses. With these words, Maurizio Santon, Modulblok founder and executive officer, begins the interview on anti-seismic warehouses for the Focus published in the magazine L’Industria Meccanica (Mechanical Industry)
European regulations
Finally, on July 21, 2016, EN16681, the first official and shared European standard, came into force. The standard provides specific indications on the sizing of conventional pallet storage systems in seismic areas built with industrial racking. This European standard comes after over 20 years of study and two European researches (Seisrack I and II) and will ensure a substantial improvement in the safety of persons and goods through the construction of anti-seismic warehouses.
Earthquake-resistant racking
To support the goods, a rack must be able to support their weight, therefore resist vertical action. Anti-seismic warehouses must also resist horizontal and cyclical, actions, which are devastating for any structure, if not appropriately considered in the planning. An anti-seismic racking system is able to absorb these thrusts with specific elements designed to reduce global deformations.
What can de done
Modulblok puts the focus of its business on advanced research and high-level structural design to create innovative products capable of meeting the most stringent and modern quality standards and above all to withstand all stresses, including seismic ones, because people’s lives come first.
